r/GMail on Reddit: Gmail is trying to force me to change my password. How do I stop it?
July 9, 2024 -

First of all, I know someone else posted this questions but no solutions that worked were offered so here we go.

I singed up on a different computer and google is marking it as suspicious activity and making me change my password. I refuse, in 12 years it's never been hacked, and I'm very attached to it. I don't want to change it for such a stupid reason as me myself loging in.

I already went to the security side of my google account and said I was the suspicious person making the log in, but it's still forcing me to change it to make any new log ins, which I need to do because I have a new computer.

I really need there to be a solution, even if that solution is to get in a call with someone. Could anyone please help me? I simply refuse to change it for no reason, I feel super frustrated at google not giving me an option at all. I have two factor so it's not like the pass alone could make someone get into my account! Please help me!

Gmail Passwords Confirmed Within 183 Million Account Infostealer Leak
October 28, 2025 - The output of the stealer logs concerned, Hunt said, consisted primarily of three things: website address, email address and password. “Someone logging into Gmail,” Hunt wrote, “ends up with their email address and password captured against gmail.com, hence the three parts.” Of course, there’s a lot of recycling of credentials that goes on in the cybercriminal world, so Hunt initially wanted to check the freshness of the database he had in his hands.ForbesPayPal Users Warned ‘Do Not Pay, Do Not Phone’ As Attackers StrikeBy Davey Winder

Yes, Google Warns All Gmail Users To Stop Using Passwords—Act Now
4 weeks ago - Google also says that adding passkeys means they will “pay closer attention to the sign-ins that fall back to passwords,” In other words, they’ll tighten your account security. Google is leading the charge on passkey adoption, with a huge increase in the past year. Users are catching on, but most still need to make the change. Do that now. A new Cyber Press report shows exactly how critical it is to short up Gmail and other email security, as “cybercriminals target Outlook and Gmail, evading standard email security.” These platforms are the prime target, almost all credential harvesting phishing attacks targeting one or the other, on a broadly even split.
