Apparently you can use free letsencrypt certs, but then you have to manually set up new certificates every 60-90 days to keep them valid. Even having to setup and re setup the certificate once makes it worth moving hosts, and there’s plenty of other reasons to leave godaddy. More on reddit.com

GoDaddy, by default, uses the previous CSR on renewal, which isn't valid any longer. Therefore, create a new certificate request in the IIS manager, then in GoDaddy do a rekey. Complete the request in IIS Manager, and you can then export it. Go into the RDS Gateway manager and import the certificate there so it is bound correctly. More on reddit.com

Hi all,
I tried the option of ZenSSL by trying to manually set up an SSL certificate and bypass GoDaddy's SSL expensive plans, but all methods (HTTP and DNS) didn't work. My client wants the https to show up, but I'm not sure if there's any other way (besides switching hosting providers).
Any ideas?

Even having to setup and re setup the certificate once makes it worth moving hosts, and there’s plenty of other reasons to leave godaddy.

I would switch hosts. GoDaddy charges fees for things like SSL and Domain Privacy that many of their competitors offer for free. For better WP hosting, try Cloudways. Kinsta and WPengine have good offerings if you want something less hands on.
