I have a client who registered a domain with Godaddy, they paid for 1 year of Microsoft 356 for their email. I transfered the domain to Greengeeks. They didn't have actually hosting with Godaddy, just the domain and the email.
The email stopped working for them, since they'd access it thru outlook.com and paid for 1 year (it's been 2 months) why isn't it working? Shouldn't the email be totally seperate from the Godaddy account? I re-created the same email on greengeeks and he's using RoundCube for now and getting emails again. But he can no longer access any of the emails when he logs into outlook.com.
What can he do to access that again?
When I access the godaddy email on my phone it's saying I need the copilot app which I have but I still can't seem to get in. Ideas?
In February of 2025, I paid Godaddy almost $600 to host my personal Email for 3 years. They used to have their own POP email server, but for the last few years have farmed out email hosting to Microsoft.
They have a 7-day cancellation policy. No cancellation after that, EVEN IF THEY MAKE CHANGES THAT MAKE THEIR MICROSOFT EMAIL UNUSABLE FOR MAC USERS.
July 8, 2025 and again today on July 21, 2025. Microsoft sent me a nag Email to clear up some space on the Outlook email server because I’m running out of storage space.
It doesn't help to clear anything up from my Mac's inbox or Trashcan, that has no effect on their Webserver's content.
The webmail login insists that I authenticate on my Mac with a Microsoft authentication program but they don’t make one that works on the Mac!
So I can’t log into my Webmail on my Mac.
Without the ability to log onto Outlook Webmail, I am unable to clear up the storage space that Microsoft is insisting I clear up.
So it looks like my Email will stop working until we figure out a solution to this problem.
I have tried several times to reach their Tech support on the phone, but after over an hour of waiting had to give up.
MY SOLUTION?
I called Apple tech support (got through to a tech in under a minute) and they helped me modify my DNS pointer on my private domain from pointing to GoDaddy's system to the Apple iCloud Email system. And I'm not limited to the puny 2GB of storage any more. I'm limited only by the size of iCloud that I pay for.
PROBLEM RESOLVED!
Recommendation: Find a better Email Provider. GoDaddy uses Exchange servers.
Hi. I am in over my head and asking for help. Around 20 years ago I had an email and domain name only package with Go Daddy. We have four email addresses for the family. It went from under 20 bucks a year to a couple hundred dollars a year. If it makes a difference, I don’t use the webpage, just the email. Go Daddy used to have their own email platform but now use Outlook online. On our phones we just use the email app.
I understand there are other companies out there that will host my email, but I’m not sure how I would switch to another company without losing all of my archives of saved emails. For each account.
I am in over my head. I don’t know what I’m doing anymore. Is there any other service I can switch to that might be less money than Go Daddy that would allow me to keep my emails?
I have searched Reddit, but can’t seem to get a firm understanding. on our phones we just use the email app. I will appreciate any and all advice about how I can get what I’m looking for. Thank you so much.
Had numerous domains registered through GoDaddy over the years. Mostly dormant but have a couple I get email to. Purchased an MS Office $99/yr from them to get email. It’s mostly worked ok and using new Outlook on two Windows boxes. Just got a new laptop that came with a “Lifetime License” to MS Office. Q - do I still need to subscribe to Office from GoDaddy? If no, how do I transition to the new license and have it work on three PCs? Thanks! Ps. Many are saying leave GoDaddy - where are you moving to? And is it worth moving domains you own but aren’t working with currently?
