Secure Your Email: Best Practices for GoDaddy Webmail Login Security - Ask.com
February 12, 2025 - Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security beyond just a password. With 2FA enabled on your GoDaddy Webmail account, you’ll be required to verify your identity through another method—typically via text message or an authentication app—each time you log in from an unrecognized device or location. This greatly reduces the risk of unauthorized access. Phishing is a common tactic used by cybercriminals to steal login credentials by tricking users into clicking malicious links or providing personal information under false pretenses.

Then if a username and password is ever compromised, MFA stops the attacker from accessing the account because they won't have access to the next level of required authentication. When setting up MFA on your email, we recommend the Microsoft Authenticator app. It creates a one-time code, which is more secure than one-time codes sent by SMS.

r/godaddy on Reddit: Constant emails about my email account being signed in
January 24, 2024 -

I keep on getting emails from Godaddy, about a sign in into my email account (which is under their office 365 online). I have checked the IP and it seems to be from google?
Iv enabled 2FA and logged all the computers out yet I am still getting these emails.

When I click my "recent activity" in Office 365 it comes up as this IP in California, and logged in via Office 365 Exchange online. I did not even get an SMS on my phone which Iv enabled 2FA for

I’m getting this for 6 hours now. On the phone with godaddy as I type this. It doesn’t say an attempt, it says they signed in!

Same thing is happening to me and seems to have started about the same time (48 hours ago give or take). Godaddy has been completely hopeless at trying to provide any explanation for the logins, and tried to get me to pay for an enhanced security package "just in case". Note that this block of IPs (209.85.208.xxx) is registered to Google. A reverse lookup shows that 209.85.208.181 appears to be one of Google's mail servers. (mail-lj1-f181.google.com). Ref: https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=ptr%3a209.85.208.181&run=toolpage I use gmail to fetch mails from one of my domains hosted by Godaddy. This seems to coincide with the login messages. Do yours by any chance also appear when you send/receive email from a Godaddy domain through gmail? In the screenshot you have posted, I would suspect that the connection showing up as Windows10 is you (or another authorized user) connecting as normal to the Godaddy webmail, wheras the Office 365 Exchange connection is Gmail logging in to your Godaddy hosted email account. I'm not an expert and still seeking Godaddy's confirmation that this is actually the case... but hope this may be of reference. Would be interested to know if anyone else has the same experience. I also get IPv6 connections which resolve to Ireland, also Google registered servers. (An example ... 2a00:1450:4864:20::233 , which also seems to be a gmail server.)

r/cybersecurity on Reddit: GoDaddy email security
September 27, 2022 -

Hi everyone,

We are a rapidly scaling company who needs help with email security and we have run into a problem. We currently use GoDaddy for our domains and emails - this is becoming an issue.

We can’t seem to find any email security companies that work with GoDaddy. We want an overall software which you can see all of the emails. We know this is capable if we migrate to Microsoft; however, we don’t want to do this as it is too costly.

Could someone please help us with this? Is there a company out there that works with GoDaddy for email security.

If you are a rapidly scaling company and the issue you described is your pain point, it's not likely going to get any better, as GoDaddy is first and foremost a domain registrar/web hosting company. Do they provide other services? Yes, as you know, they do. However, this begs the question about providing *those* particular services at scale and with the level of visibility to 3rd-party applications that you seem to need. If Microsoft is too costly, have you considered Google Workspace? Also, if you're in the non-profit space, you can gain access to Microsoft (and many other software/hardware) products at significantly reduced prices. Regardless, if growing, better to bite the bullet now and proactively put things in place that will support your growth vs taking reactive and potentially more costly steps later.

We can’t seem to find any email security companies that work with GoDaddy. What type of email security products are you looking at? Email security gateways like Proofpoint, Mimecast, Barracuda, etc sit in front of your email system and are generally provider agnostic. Some of their added functionality (such as Proofpoint's auto-pull stuff) may only work with certain service providers but the filter products won't care. That said, I am with u/RealLou_JustLou . I would hardly recommend a 1-5 person company use GoDaddy for email let alone a growing one. As early as possible while scaling is the time to make a change, every time you put it off the amount of data and number of people you have to migrate grows. Microsoft; however, we don’t want to do this as it is too costly. Keep in mind that while something like Microsoft's Business Basic plan is CA$7.70/mo/user it includes a bunch of stuff. It has Teams so if you're paying for something like Slack you can drop that expense, includes OneDrive and SharePoint so can eliminate things like Dropbox, and has better security for email out of the box than GoDaddy so you may not need to pay for anything additional until you outgrow it by which time you'd have the cash ideally. You also get much better calendaring, group management, alias management, shared mailbox management, etc. Setup with mail clients also tends to be way better. As RealLou said Google Workspace is another option. It also has better native security, includes data storage, collaborative tools, etc.

r/proofpoint on Reddit: Godaddy, MS O365 and Proofpoint (as Advanced Email Security with Proofpoint).
September 29, 2024 -

Hey all!

We (a small company) are buying domain name and MS 365 through Godaddy. Also we have email security add-on (through Godaddy, ofc). Since last Thursday we have big issue with incoming emails. 550 5.7.1 error. Godaddy techs cannot help us (they twice did fix our DKIM and DMARC records but fruitless). We are not a direct Proofpoint customers which means nobody will answer. Email security dashboard is through Godaddy, not a direct Proofpoint link (https://godaddy1.cloud-protect.net/app/login.php)

Could you please help me to find the way to communicate to Proofpoint tech support? Or may be some other solution?

Having trouble with email login through my Godaddy Office 365 Exchange account. Set the email as

IMAP server name outlook.office365.com IMAP port 993

SMTP server name smtp.office365.com SMTP port 587

SMTP encryption method STARTTLS

Also reviewed info from Sign in to your email Supernote Support Center

  1. Go to your Microsoft Account Management page.

  2. At the top, click "Security".

  3. On the right, click "More security options".

  4. With two-step verification turned on, under the "App Passwords" heading, click on "Create a new app password" and follow the instructions.

  5. Use this App Password to sign in on Supernote. If the login failed, please kindly tap the “Manual Settings” on the login page on your Supernote to go to the "Server" page to check that whether the settings are as in the following image.

Can't seem to locate the "Security" - "More security" settings... wonder if it's because the account is via Godaddy.

Any thoughts appreciated.
