Golem hits hard but it is big and slow (compared to other bosses). I would say that it is a threat only if you are undergeared and/or you are fighting him in a small, closed space.As it needs to be summoned, you can take your time and set the stage to be more advantageous for you. Bring a heart lamp, campfire and set some small pools of honey for life regen. Set a couple of sentry type summons for extra damage if you have some and you should use the same strategy you used against The Twins.

Edit: I beat the Golem after modifying my arena and equipment, thank you for your advice!
Yes i know Golem is the easiest boss in the game, and yes i tried building an arena to make the fight easier. I can admit his attacks are pretty easy but the room im fighting in is just too small to avoid the lasers, especially when theres more of them. I tried getting the blizzard staff, as i heard it obliterates him but unfortunately i can't get to the Ice Queen with shroomite and terrablade... I wouldn't be stuck if the room wasn't too small. Just to make everything clear i'm new to the game, and i've never beaten it.

First of all, I’d recommend getting rid of that lower platform. That just puts you close to golem himself, which means his attacks reach you faster. Instead, just move your top platform down by 2-3 blocks and leave that as your sole platform. From my experience, you only need one. Since you have terrablade, all you need to do to take out the arms is just stand in one spot and dash or move to the side whenever he throws a punch (they are very slow) If you just can’t seem to do it, you should get turtle armor. The melee class always has high defense armor sets and with higher defense you will take less damage. Whenever it’s just his head shooting lasers just run from left to right and dash whenever you switch directions. With turtle armor this should minimize damage and allow you to get enough hits in to phase him. When his head is detached, just do the same thing, running from left to right and dashing when you turn. You’ll get into a kind of rhythm that completely dodges the heads lasers, and you can safely dps golem. If you still can’t do it with turtle armor, try reforging your accessories to warding, or getting some better ones. I think the main problem is that you’re using ranger class armor with a melee class weapon. Try getting turtle armor (which upgrades into beetle armor right after golem so it’s a win/win) and try again with my advice. I know it sounds kind of dumb, but seriously, getting into the rhythm of strafing will dodge him very easily.

Depending on the difficulty the hands are gonna be the number 1 priority because when hes in his second phase his hands attack super fast and can actually do a large amount of damage, For weapons good single target damage is gonna be what you want to use. (tac. shotgun and terrablade are my personal favourites) As for dodging him you want to do a half moon kind of dodgeing so you start from one side then move to the other side then repeat.

Unless you get screwed by world gen and end up with a super small room to fight him in, you really didn’t have to cheese him, just put a platform above him and that’s your arena. Golem is much easier than plantera, just need to take out his fists first and dodge the lasers and fire balls, easy fight.
