I would spend a lot of time on google my business and getting ads in by location around your area. A lot of people search for these things on maps or search and look at the map results. Also get on any local apps like nextdoor or gumtree and run ads. Google ads are good but get the base right there. Then make sure the seo is on point for your website. r/smallbusiness on Reddit: Are Google ads worth it?
October 30, 2022 -

I am a small business that does TV Installations, WiFi, Home Automation, Security, etc. Most of my business has been word of mouth and i'm doing pretty good for myself, but i'm ready to ramp up and take on more work. Eventually I want to hire my first technician and I need that steady supply of work in order to do that. Right now I would say i'm busy for at least 1/2 of the month, and that pays the bills.

I have someone who runs my website (in my industry as well) and i've inquired about Google Ads. I've been told that they have a monthly fee of $580 and suggest running a minimum of $30/day. So for the first month I would be looking at around $1500. They've suggested we do small ads, like TV mounting, and that I will recover the money easily.

For a small business like mine I just can't wrap my head around spending the $1500. I've also attempted FB and Instagram ads before with mixed success, so i've already wasted my own money doing this to where I just want to hire someone who can do this for me. Is $1,500 with ad cost normal for something like this?

I have someone who runs my website (in my industry as well) and i've inquired about Google Ads. I've been told that they have a monthly fee of $580 and suggest running a minimum of $30/day. That's ridiculous. Google has no monthly fee and you can run your own ads. Ditch this loser. You can set your monthly spend with a slider right in the google ad console, anywhere from $0 to millions. You do not need anybody to do this for you. What you do need is a simple website with a sign up form, and a Google Local profile which is also free, and for your customers to give you good Google reviews. As you get more and better reviews, you'll find that Google shows you more, for free. so i've already wasted my own money doing this to where I just want to hire someone who can do this for me. Is $1,500 with ad cost normal for something like this? Don't do this. You found someone who knows you already lost money and is willing to help you lose more. Forget paid advertising anywhere but google, and on google stick to small text-based ads on google's search pages, for a few zipcodes nearest to you that you want to cover. You can pick just the zipcodes with money, which will help your profitiblity and cut down on waste. Google is more than happy to walk you through the process. Also you can change your ad spend at any time, so if you're busy you can crank it down to $0 and if you need work you can crank it up. As you get more good reviews, you'll need less advertising. After a while you won't need advertising at all.
