Can you install Google Chrome on a Mac?
Can I make Chrome update automatically on Mac?
TL:DR
You can get Google Chrome Remote Desktop to work on MacOS 10.15(.7) Catalina using this installer (version 121.0.6167.9):

Original Post:
I re-installed Catalina on an older Macbook for a family member, and wanted to install Chrome remote Desktop on it in case the family member wants help.
Going to:
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/chrome-remote-desktop/inomeogfingihgjfjlpeplalcfajhgai
Following all the steps, the installation went "successful".
Chrome doesn't recognize that I installed it. So I check the file it installed. Requires MacOS 11 or higher.
Really cool you can install something that doesn't work Google.
So after a long search, I found a lot of people have this same issue and are all providing 1 link to an older version:
https://dl.google.com/dl/chrome-remote-desktop/chromeremotedesktophost-47.0.2526.18.dmg
This version does not seem to work on Catalina.
So I did some research, trying to find sites with version history lists, as Google does not provide one.
This is a site I came across:
https://community.chocolatey.org/packages/chrome-remote-desktop-host#versionhistory
And using the download link above I came across 2 newer versions:
https://dl.google.com/dl/chrome-remote-desktop/chromeremotedesktophost-89.0.4389.25.dmg
https://dl.google.com/dl/chrome-remote-desktop/chromeremotedesktophost-92.0.4515.41.dmg
Sadly I couldn't find a working link for a newer version.
This is as far as I got so far. I will test these later today.
If anyone else tries to do the same, please test if the "newer" versions work for you on Catalina (and maybe older versions too).
Looking at another Catalina MacBook I had it installed on earlier, the newest version for Catalina seems to be 128.0.6613, which I don't have the installer for sadly.
I will update here when I get the chance to install it. I hope that this will help anyone trying to get Chrome remote desktop to work.
Edit 1:
Still looking for newer versions, I came across version 108.0.5359.16 with the power of the internet archive:
https://web.archive.org/web/20221219074500/https://dl.google.com/chrome-remote-desktop/chromeremotedesktop.dmg
Edit 1.5:
AAAND I found version 121.0.6167.9 via the internet archive:
https://web.archive.org/web/20231226100537/https://dl.google.com/dl/chrome-remote-desktop/chromeremotedesktop.dmg
Edit 2:
It worked using the above link!
i downloaded chrome to use since i have my whole school emails based around it, but it wont open. After waiting it quits itself and i get an error report.
Run these commands
xcode-select --install
sudo xattr -lr /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app
sudo xattr -cr /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app
sudo codesign -f -s - /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app
Those commands should work for any .app that wont open. I had the same issue with office 2019 yesterday so someone else gave me those commands, worked a treat for me :)
