Conversion Rate in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Explained (2025)
Thankfully, the conversion rate in GA4 can now be viewed in both standard and exploration reports. Google not only brought back the conversion rate which determines the percentage of converted sessions against the total, but they also introduced a new type that calculates the percentage of converted users over the total number of website visitors.

Does anyone else find google ads conversion rates extremely inconsistent?

Humans aren’t consistent. The world isn’t the same every day. Do you think retail stores sell the same amount everyday? Natural and seasonal fluctuations are normal. Pretending they aren’t is abnormal.

r/ecommerce on Reddit: Help with Google Ad and conversion rate
February 26, 2023 -

Hi everyone ,

Just a little about my shop. I used to sell on Etsy actively for a year with over 6,000 orders that year. I have checked my conversion rate and it was around 3%. I also did some researches online, and noted that normal conversation rate for a small brand’s e shop is also around 3-5%.

Due to some reasons, I am not able to sell on Etsy anymore and started my own online shop. One thing I do not understand about the Google ad is that how can I make the campaign profitable if the conversion rate is this low ? Or does a successful campaign have a much higher conversion rate to offset the cost of the ads?

Some info about my product - i sell custom made phone case with price range around £20-30.

Thanks guys !

October 6, 2025 - The session key rate in Google Analytics is: Session Key Event Rate = (Number of Sessions with key events / Total Number of Sessions) x 100 · The session key event rate won’t match if you divide the number of key events by sessions because the formula is based on the number of sessions with key events. And key events will account for all the events marked as key events. tip · The key event rate could be used in calculating the product conversion rate - how many users need to see a product before one of them decides to buy it?
