Is Google Digital Garage Worth It?
Like the name of the course said it, its the fundamentals. I will always recommend the course since it is the best course to understand the absolute basics, if you never worked in marketing and want to start, this is the best choice. You will learn the "why" of SEO, SERP, Local SEO, setting up GoogleMyBusiness, PPC, Social media marketing, Social media advertising, Content marketing, Marketing plans, Video marketing, affiliate marketing and few other things.
Both me and my wife started with this course and 2 years later she is an SEO and content marketing expert and I am a project manager for one of the biggest companies in the world (also marketing).
Since you mentioned school, I don't know how its in your country, but I can definitely say that in my country you will not learn much in school regarding digital marketing. Marketing in colleague teaches you the theory of traditional marketing. This course will teach you more in 40 hours than colleague in 5 years (in Croatia).

I have been studying marketing in school, however, I am still having trouble standing out among others with more experience in the field and I have been looking for online resources to build my portfolio. An online resource that I have seen being promoted often is this Google Digital Garage online course.
The course itself is 40 hours long and gives a certificate for completing it, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. Would a certificate from this course look good on a resume if my only other prior experience is through school work? Do employers know what it is/ see initiative in completing it?
Any advice helps out, thank you!

I actually did the course. And it is well worth it.
It helps you stand out from the rest.
Now just because you learned a few thing in this course dont think that you know everything in marketing.
It covers a lot if ground but very quickly, it does not go in depth with the topics. It just brushes upon them. They just let you know hey this is important and you should know about it.
Overall it's a good starting point for a career in marketing.
