Is google docs really bad to use?
I'm a big fan of writers using whatever tools work best for them. If it works for you, rock on. Personally, my only real problem with google docs is that it doesn't handle large documents well, in my experience. But that's just me. More on reddit.com

You can't download Google Docs. Docs and Google Drive where they are saved are websites. Go to the Google Drive site, click on the New button at the top left, then on Google Docs / Blank document. https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive More on reddit.com
