Yes, I know Google Fi has a coverage map. Coverage maps lie. The map looks only granular at the zip code level.
I talked to customer service and they are 100% confident I will have great coverage. I have trouble believing them unless they have sent someone to my house.
Verizon and AT&T before them said they have good coverage at my house. They don't.
Signing up my family and porting a bunch of numbers before I can find this out seems like a major pain.
Hi I've been looking for information about where Google Fi will have coverage internationally and I found the list of countries, but can't find an actual map for specific countries.
It seems unrealistic to expect 100% coverage in every country listed, especially in remote locations. How do I find a map that shows which areas of each country are covered like they offer with the US coverage map?
Or maybe a list of partner providers they use so I can check their coverage maps?
Thanks!
Edit: I have a pixel

The Google Fi Coverage Map has been updated. It's been a long time!!
I've been thinking about switching from Metrobyt to GoogleFi but I've seen some bad stories about it, would transferring to them be good? I don't know if this changes anything but we live in Florida and already have good coverage with T-Mobile and the free pixel 7a for all of us would be a good deal if everything goes right.
Edit: thank you for everyone telling me their experience, I'm going to order phones and switch services when my current plan is about to end. :)
Edit2:I'm glad people still post their experiences on this thread. it's been a year with the service and as everyone said if you don't have issues it's good, the phone has also been great after some updates. I hope I never have any problems.
Google Fi International Coverage & Signal Strength for Google Maps (Downloaded Maps + Live Walking Directions?)
Already sent an official Fi support inquiry but wondering people's experience or insight with using downloaded Google Maps specifically for Walking Directions in Google Maps. Driving directions won't quite cut it (for me), and non-live walking directions on downloaded maps are not possible (but driving directions are; go figure). Does anyone know whether Google Fi coverage in Europe and specifically major northern and central Italian cities is good and the signal is strong enough for using live Google Maps for live walking directions? Also, had seen an odd post here and there that there had been surprise Google Fi limitations to "unlimited data and international plans".
I was looking at both the Sprint and T-Mobile coverage map and they both say I have Ultra 5g coverage at home, but fi says 4G LTE only. What gives?
You can also use this map and select the T-Mobile and US Cellular layers:

I've found coverage maps to be totally misleading and inaccurate. Last place I lived, Fi claimed to have full coverage at my house - unfortunately, they didn't. I moved in August of last year, and once again Fi's map claims coverage at my house - zero coverage.
I'm guessing they did it by design. They used three colors of green that are all about the same shade. Way to go.

where can I find a realistic Fi coverage map for the US?
Thanks!
We go to a cabin in north central WI a few times during the summer. According to the Coverage Map in the FI App, we should have 4g/5g coverage in our area. However, we don't have any coverage.
I chatted with the Fi people got the run around and completely different answers for a week.
-
Give us more addresses in the area so we can check
-
Our internal map says no coverage
-
I should have coverage
-
There's an outage we're working on
-
There's only outdoor coverage
-
The Internal Coverage Map shows no coverage
It's a complete joke.
I can only go off the coverage map that I have access to, which shows we should have coverage just fine.
Is the coverage map on the google fi website accurate? Or are there spots like in Kokomo Indiana where there’s no coverage?
Check the T-Mobile website to get an idea of coverage. If Kokomo is also in US Cellular's native coverage area Google Fi can also take advantage of that as well.
Google Fi's map used to be pretty accurate but all the carriers have made coverage changes so it may not be as accurate as it could be.
Do you consider poor coverage as "coverage", these are marketing tools.
Best to create a T-mobile prepaid account, have thems send a free sim, activate a 30 day 15usd plan to test the coverage in your area. You'll know for sure.
Unless you are in the US Cellular area, then best to ask around if using a Fi compatible device. Otherwise the T-mobile test is supreme. Fi uses T-mobile and US Cellular networks.
So I’ve been desperately needing a new phone and on top of that, Verizon has been absolutely sucking (especially for the price I’m paying.)
Since I live in Northern Virginia, I was checking r/nova and was hearing great things about the experience but I wanted something a little more in depth as everyone’s experience can be different.
I do live in a metro area so I do expect good coverage anywhere around the DC area, but I am also on the road a lot and end up working in very rural areas. Ruther Glen, VA being the most recent, it seems not a single person can get service unless it’s T-mobile. I’m also in rural Maryland quite a lot as well as rural Pennsylvania.
So I’m wondering, does GoogleFi hold up in rural areas like I’m hearing about metro areas? And I’ve heard from one person who uses GoogleFi that at random times the phone calls can be absolutely shitty. While I’m not taking phone calls all day, is that true?
I have been with Tmo for about 9 years now. Got the 4 Line for $100 and $10 for each additional line (plus all the fees and taxes. Makes it about $127). Comes with 4GB data. Nobody has ever gone over 2GB.
I live in NY metro area. Use my phone's gps while driving, rarely travel outside NYC. T-Mobile definitely moved from their "un-carrier" stance. They do NOT offer same phone deals for my plan. Charges $35 for each upgrade!!! Even if it's done online. Had to be on chat for 30 mins and 15 voice call to get it reimbursed as statement credit.
Would you recommend GFW based on their network coverage?
Planning on switching over to Fi on a Pixel 10 here in a couple weeks. I’m currently on an iPhone 15 with Verizon.
I’ll be bouncing between Cincinnati and Asheville, NC. Will I notice any major lapses or changes in coverage? Is Fi still worth it in 2025, or would I be better off with Visible?
This might be a local issue, but has anyone notice a significant drop in coverage or performance in their area in the last few weeks? My wife and I have noticed this with our two Pixel 5 phones in the usually good Bellevue area to the east of Seattle. Same phones we've used for years with Google Fi, no changes in phones, cases, or locations and we're well within our "high speed" Simply Unlimited data bucket. .
Observations (FCC Speed Test app) https://imgur.com/a/Zy3XwHR:
5G connection drops to LTE regularly
Speeds on 4G LTE or 5G are poor, between 4Mbps to 10Mbps
Frequently see a "!" character in LTE wireless bar with basically no no data throughput in areas where coverage was just fi8ne. At times with a "working" connection also see no data throughput.
*Edit 3/10/2024: Will keep CellMapper collecting more data but I don't have a rooted Android phone to see QCI in Network Signal Guru. Google Fi is an MVNO on T-Mobile. So even if Google Fi isn't deprioritized (QCI 6 to 7 or higher) then it's believable that around here we're just being deprioritized to T-Mobile customers as the Seattle area is known for being congested. If things don't improve I will try out this free 3-month pass on T-mo-- I guess if you can't beat them, join them.
I thought I'd save someone time and money and give an honest review of Google Fi services. I really wanted to love it, but.... I'm switching back to at&t. I'm in NJ and NYC area.
Pro's: good connection overseas, no issues connecting to network upon arrival to Europe ( compared to At&t ), no international data charges.
Con's: spotty connection, no connection at all in specific areas. IT support is useless and openly mean at times. I contacted them when I discovered that I have no network connection at work watsoever - no phone calls, no data (never had this issue with at&t), 2 weeks and 5 IT support reps later - the issue still persists. Notification "Sim card is not provisioned" and "emergency calls only" is a normal thing. I have Google 7 pro phone and iPhone on the second line ( with the same issues).
