How the heck are you supposed to order a new SIM on mobile? In the app if I go to shop it just gives me a limited list of devices to buy. If I go to the website in Chrome and tap "sign in" it just opens the shop tab in the Fi app. As far as I can tell there is no way to order a new SIM on mobile.
I'm at my wits end.
No one on support chat will give me the time of day and just simply repeat that my only option to speak to someone further about my issue is to reply to the last email I received about my claim. When I reply to the various emails, that promise a team of engineers are working on my issue for weeks without any updates, I get nothing back but a professionally drafted 'sorry for the inconvenience' without answering any of my questions.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation that could give me any advice? I am at a loss and would just like to get a replacement for the phone that I've been paying protection on for the last 2 years.
Let's say I have a Google Fi account using my Google account which has 2FA enabled. Let's also say I lose my phone and now I need a replacement SIM (or eSIM). Usually that would be as easy as logging into my Google Fi account and requesting a SIM replacement. But my Google account also has 2FA enabled, and I cannot login without my phone. For the sake of argument, let's say I do not have access to my Google account 2FA backup codes. (Maybe my whole house burned down and took my phone and backup codes with it.)
What to do? Legacy providers like T-Mobile, etc. would verify me based on my account details such as social security number and reissue the SIM. But I don't recall giving Google Fi that information, so how would Google Fi reissue me my SIM?
EDIT: Folks, I know you can go get a SIM from Best Buy or somewhere. Getting a SIM is not an issue. But you cannot activate that SIM without logging into your Google account, which you cannot do if you cannot authenticate 2FA for whatever reason.
EDIT2: So the answer seems to be that you must first try to recover your Google account by following the directions at https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185834?hl=en#extra_steps&zippy=%2Crecover-your-account. But the process is not clear. Not sure how Google would authenticate you.
Lost mine overseas and now I can't find a way to get a new one. Any ideas?
