Hey there, firstly the fee you are referring to should be a $1.95 ish charge which is authorisation hold. This is a refunded charge , and done everytime you try to add the card. Refunds take anywhere from 1-14 days. The verification issue you mentioned is completely unrelated. That's an ongoing issue due to bank's new rules to have verification done with an OTP code. Are you sure you're not trying to use a google voice number, or fi support isn't accidentally thinking that you are using a google voice number? I haven't had a problem getting google pay verification codes to my google fi number, but if I try to use my google voice number then they fail because google pay doesn't support using a google voice number (no VOIP methods afaik). It happened with me once. It's the responsibility of the bank, not Google. But stupid bankers couldn't solve my problem, so I ended up logging into the mobile bank app on that phone, and pressing "Add to Google Pay" button for the card inside the mobile app. This way Google did not require a code from SMS and I successfully added my card to Google Pay. SO a little while ago, I tried to put a VISA prepaid gift card on Google Pay. Long story short, it couldn't be 'verified' so they gave me a $2 fee. At that point, I didn't care, removed the can, and was going to accept the fee.
I just got an email that the verification code they sent me is going to expire. Does anyone know what happens if I just let it go? I'm assuming they won't let me use the card on Google Pay, which I'm fine with, but are they going to charge me more fees?
