Paypal is not good but Google is way worse. You'd be giving your purchase history to an advertising company. Guess what they'll do with that info. But that's the privacy side of things. Your question is about security. You should ask in a subreddit more geared towards security.

Hi all,
I'm new to internet shopping and I've become aware that entering your physical cc details can be risky, which is why I am opting for electronic payment. However I am unsure which service to choose out of Apple Pay, Google Pay and Paypal.
I will only be using the service for online shopping. I prioritise security, a supportive service that won't freeze/ become unresponsive etc. and won't charge fees for buying.
Out of the many reviews and articles I have read, I am looking to go with Apple Pay. As a second opinion, I was wondering if you guys can confirm if Apple Pay is the way to go.

Use what's available for the shop you're paying at. Sometimes you'll have a choice, other times you have to go with PayPal or just straight up entering your card info. With PayPal Key you at least have a way of protecting your card number no matter what.

This might take it to a level that you may or may not care about, but using the PayPal key is a way to use American Express in ways that you normally cannot, which in addition to masking the card is the selling point for me. And since the PayPal key "codes" as a debit card you can use it for services such as Verizon Wireless payments which give a discount to auto pay users, but only if it's a debit card or bank account, while still getting points for the purchase at Amex.

Until the OpenWallet protocol is released, wallets are developed, and Google/Apple/Samsung are required to allow third party access to the NFC for payments (EU already did this)... there are no alternatives.

Specifically with Ebay I'd use Paypal, Ebay & Paypal are owned by the same company, whatever private data you give up to one the other probably already has. But Apart from ebay, I wouldn't be using either Paypal or Google Pay unless I didnt have another choice. edit: apparently paypal and ebay broke up.
