Transaction history for online (not tap-and-pay) use [USA]
Hey there. You need to understand that when you pay with GPay on any websites, the service is only to retrieve your card payment methods saved on GPay profile to the Checkout page. GPay doesn't actually process the payment. Anytime GPay processes the payments, you'll get those recorded on the app or profile. As the particular transactions you are referring to are not processed by GPay, Google has no way to record payments and report it on your account. The party processing the payments are your bank and the merchant of website. Both of those do provide you the record of transaction in bank statement and receipt . That's what you are informed as well. Hope this helps! More on reddit.com

accessing google wallet payment history
My mother is an authorized card holder on one of my cards. Sure, I can check my bank statement, but I know that all the transactions which I'm responsible for are only ever used via phone tap. Getting a complete history would make things very easy to compare which are mine and which are hers. She keeps a running total, but she's getting up there in years and she may easily be forgetting some of them. There's a couple hundred dollar discrepancy and sometimes we have vendors that overlap. For example, as I'm never buying alcohol, I know trips to the LCBO (a canadian liquor vendor) aren't mine. We both, however, eat sometimes at Harvey's, so it's tough to say which are hers and which are mine. Going forward, I understand I need to keep a better record, but having access to the last, say, 90 days worth would help sort this out for us. Anyone know if there's currently a way to view more, or is that just a feature they don't have in Google Wallet? Thanks in advance. More on reddit.com

r/googlepay on Reddit: Transaction history for online (not tap-and-pay) use [USA]
January 15, 2022 -

I find this mind-boggling.

You can use Google Pay to pay for things online. By this I mean either on a desktop PC while logged into your Google account (maybe only in Chrome?) or on a phone to pay for things in other apps (e.g. eBay) or in the browser.

But there seems to be absolutely no record of these transactions of any kind that is kept and presented by Google. In other words, as far as I can see (and I've discussed this with Google support via chat too), the only way to see these transactions is to login to my individual credit card accounts and look for them there.

Google does not allow me to see the transactions anywhere. They're not emailed to me, not texted, not presented in the Google Pay app (old or new), and not available on the Google Pay site.

Is this true? Does anyone else find it bonkers?

It's especially frustrating if you are trying to research past transactions and you don't remember which card you used. So you have to login to every card site to search? And does this method of using Google Pay use "virtual card numbers" that hide your actual card number from the merchant? There is like zero documentation of this. When I look at the transaction history with (at least some) merchants via their own apps where I used Google Pay, the transaction payment method just says "Google Pay". Doesn't provide any way to know which card I used there either.

Note: this does not apply to payment in person at a physical merchant using a physical credit card terminal and NFC tap-and-pay, where apparently those transactions are visible in the app (at least for some time, which may vary by card issuer)

By the way, is there a name for this kind of online use of Google Pay to distinguish it from the tap-and-pay use? Or do we call them both "Google Pay" even though they seem very distinct.
