Google Photos demands full access to personal photos to use the app, rather than just the photos you choose to share. Once granted access it then automatically begins taking your entire personal photo library and associated data and backing it up onto Google’s servers for them to scrape data from.

if the patched app still works for you, you don't have to update it keep it on auto update on the play store? with the GmsCore support patch, this will not be recognized by the google play store and will not be updated. you'll be the one to update it yourself using revanced manager see the patches for it: https://revanced.app/patches?pkg=com.google.android.apps.photos More on reddit.com

June 28, 2024Google photos or iCloud better ?
I recently switched from Android. I was also wondering the same thing but ultimately decided to stick with Google Photos. The reason being, it’s slightly cheaper than iCloud, and it’s a backup service, not just a sync. Plus, if I ever want to switch back to Android, iCloud doesn't have an app on Android, so I don’t want to be locked into a single service. Also, I don’t know if you use it much, but with the Google One subscription, you also get Magic Eraser and the Portrait Mode feature. Additionally, the Google Photos web version is pretty nice. If you’re going to pay for only one service, my recommendation is Google. More on reddit.com
