I'm running out of space for my first Google account, so I made a second Google account and changed the google photo back up account to the second account. However, the app starts uploading ALL photos on my phone, including ones that have been uploaded to my first Google account. Is there a way to set it so only the photos taken starting today will be synced and they'll get synced to the second Google account? Thank you.

What i did and it worked was: Open up a new account Change the camera folder name on the device so the already backed up photos (so it wont have DCIM in the folder name) Open the camera and take a new picture (so the DCIM golder will be created again and connect to the camera save path) On the google photos app, add the newly created account Change the backup option so that the backup will go to the new account You will only see New picture taken in the camera roll (main page of the photos app) .. but all the "old" picture will be in the library tab in the app under the name change you did before

After a recent post, I’m suddenly paranoid about the sheer number of photos I have in Google. These are often the masters/originals and the only copies I have.
I want to keep original quality (many of them are saved in RAW and JPEG). It’s an issue because I have about 15 years of them, and I know of individuals who have lost access to their Google account, and one friend whose Gmail was vaporised never to return. What do people do to protect against this?
