Of course, it is not a 6 or 7, but it is a good alternative when in need of a good quality phone and are relatively short on money. Also, the Pixel family of phones are the ones that support most of the custom ROMs like CalyxOS or GrapheneOS. If you are into the FOSS/de-Google world, a Pixel might be for you, specially if bought second-hand (just make sure it is not a Verizon-made Pixel if buying from the US).

March 23, 2023Still worth getting 5a in 2023?
Ordered my 5a the day they were announced. Been a perfect phone. Decent sized screen. Thumb print reader on back. A 3.5mm headphone jack. All important features most other devices have dropped. I still think it's worth it.
Sure you could get a different device but you might pay more to get less. You know...the Apple way😀.
I saw the 6a recently. Screen is smaller, no 3.5mm headset jack and the front fingerprint reader rarely works. Would personally have zero interest in it.

Dude I've gone through about 10 Pixel 5a phones with the exact same issue. This is known by Google and they've issued an extended warranty. Contact Google support, they'll act like they have no idea about this at first. Then you'll eventually get to where they tell you to bring it to Ubreakifix where they will deem it unrepairable. Then contact Google store again and they'll ask for the receipt from Ubreakifix. Then they'll send you a prepaid label and box to ship it back. I've had several refurbished 5a phones and they all die after a few months. This last time they sent back a brand new Pixel 7 Pro! More on reddit.com

There is no more secure OS than stock Android that gets security updates and patches unfortunately. It's the reason I got the 8 More on reddit.com
