My biggest problem with the 7 is the G2. It's just not battery efficient enough and heats up too much for the power it's pushing. I really hope they get the kinks out of it by the pixel 8 or pixel 9. More on reddit.com

Having owned both (Pixel 7 since launch and S23+ since earlier this month), there are several key differences and pros and cons to both. Camera: The Pixel 7 has the better camera. Even though you get a zoom lens on the samsung, Samsung's processing is horrific and over sharpens everything. Additionally, Samsung's color science results in slightly oversaturated colors. The biggest pet peeve of mine is that the S23 makes photos quite a bit warmer (much more yellow) than real life. The Pixel 7 has much better white balance. As we all know, Samsung is very slow with their shutter speed as well. Battery Life: While not a fair comparison as the S23+ is ever so slightly bigger than the Pixel 7, the battery life on the S23+ is significantly better due to the more efficient hardware (screen, SOC, and modem). You will not have any battery anxiety whatsoever on the Samsung and it can comfortably last all day (SOT is not the best metric but under good 5G coverage, the S23+ can average about 10% battery drain per hour of screen usage, so about 10 hours SOT. The Pixel on the other hand started off well at launch and has better battery life than the Pixel 6, but has deteriorated for me to the point where I will get about 3-4 hours of SOT with 5G. If the Pixel 7 is connected to a strong wifi all day long, then it does quite well and can achieve about 6-8 hours, about all day long with mixed usage. Screen: The screen on the Pixel 7 (and the Pixel 6 prior to that) is horrific if you have an eye for display quality and are used to using high end displays amd OLED panels. The Pixel 7 uses a rigid OLED panel which is an interior panel that results in significant color shifting (even just slightly shifting the phone will cause either a green cast or a pink cast). Having been an early adopter of high refresh rate displays, the 90Hz display on the Pixel 7 is a noticeable step down compared to the 120Hz of the S23+. The thing about OLEDs is that they appear choppy at low refresh rates because where a LCD would kinda transition to a new frame due to the much slower pixel response times (the fastest LCD is about 10x slower in this metric), an OLED has "near instantaneous pixel response times". What that means is that the moment there is a new frame, the Pixels can instantly change to that new image where an LCD pixel will have more of a fading effect if looking in slowmo. It's something that's particularly noticeable when watching movies with panning shots or credits. Anyways since this is going off topic, the 90Hz of the Pixel 7 feels choppier because of this effect and having less frames to feed your eyes. It's particularly noticeable when you scroll quickly. I like accurate colors and use both phones in their natural color modes. They are both calibrated well and have great natural looking colors. They both have great adaptive brightness that takes some time to learn your preferences. The s23+ is a bit better outdoors due to its higher peak brightness. Additionally, the s23+ is also capable of a lower minimum brightness at night. Despite the inferior display of the Pixel 7, I do not consider it as a deal breaker, but am always left wanting for a better display. Haptics: Pixel 7 wins but the Samsung gets close but also not really. The S23+ feels mushy in comparison to the tight haptics when you're typing. The Pixel also makes better use of haptics throughout the OS. Notifications: This is a huge deal breaker. The notification center on the S23+ is horrific. It does not separate the silent notifications like Google does. It's also hard to swipe away notifications and often times, it triggers the back swipe instead. It's also hard to swipe the notification center up. Sure you get more quick buttons at the top with the Samsung but how often do you really use those? I also like that the Pixel 7 lights up the AOD when you receive a notification. The S23+ does not do that. Google's At a Glance also works much better on the Pixel than the Galaxy. It feels like it's neutered on the Galaxy. Modem: The S23+ has a faster and more power efficient modem that's capable of higher peak 5G speeds. The modem in the Pixel 7 is in no way bad and works great with the caveat that it does experience higher battery drain. Design: I think the Pixel 7 is the best one handed phone for my hands. The camera bar is also a great place to place your index finger under to support the weight of the phone. The S23+ reminds me a lot of the iPhone 5S which I am quite fond of. The flat front and back and relatively flat sides are what makes it nostalgic for me. Fingerprint sensor: The Pixel's fingerprint sensor is significantly worse than the fingerprint sensor of the Pixel 5 and earlier (I had the Pixel 3 XL). It's often inaccurate and slow. However, I do like that it vibrates when you unlock the screen whereas the galaxy does not. The ultrasonic sensor of the S23+ is very fast and accurate and does not require you to wake the phone to use it. If you are in the Google home ecosystem, then the fact that you are able to access Google Home with the tap of a button on the lockscreen is very convenient on the Pixel. I might be missing a few things but these are my quick thoughts. Edit: I forgot to comment on performance. The Pixel feels fast due to its quick animations. But in a app launch speed test, the S23+ is ever so slightly quicker. Pixel 7, coming from a pixel 4. I really like it! Battery and camera are much better, and so is my signal reception (both to phone networks and wifi). I do miss the fast face identification, but it's a minor thing. The phone is larger and more slippery, but hopefully I'll get used to it, can't wait to put a case so I don't break it
