If you want longer updates I would say the 7a. It will get one more year of updates since it was released in 2023. More on reddit.com

It's impossible to make a pro/con list between the 2 devices if you don't really consider the 7's pros. In point 1, you say that the 7a gives more value for your money since you can get accessories with the price difference. But the 7's many benefits have to be weighed against the 7a + accessories. After that, the value difference is obviously subjective: do you want a better camera, premium materials, brighter screen, etc., or do you want to save $100 with newer Bluetooth in a smaller form? Your point 3 is likely false, and those videos are meaningless; the 7 and 7 pro are different phones with different structures, and durability includes much more than the few things tested in those videos. The pro has a curved screen vs the 7's more durable flat screen--besides any other differences. The 7 and pro are also IP68 protection rated vs the 7a's worse IP67. Additionally, those videos don't appear to include drop tests or others that test real world scenarios which could irreparably damage the devices. Getting some scratches on the back doesn't affect the phone's usability like a drop (or other event) shattering the screen or causing other issues. The 7a might still be a better buy for many people, but your arguments are missing information relative to the points that you wish to make. More on reddit.com

as someone coming from a essential ph1 which i think was the perfect form factor and changing over to P7 it was def an adjustment going back a bigger phone. got used to it now. at this point im probably just going to wait for the P8 since i hear that will go down in size to 6.1". i just could not justify getting the 7a when the 7 has more things going for it and not that much more(minus of the course the size)
