You’re not alone. Happened to me once. Google rarely grants refunds, even when their terms comfortably allow this. I responded to them respectfully that I would not make any future purchases through their store. Been years since I made a buy from their Play Store. Bought something through an app that didn’t work as expected.
I requested a refund within 1 hour of purchase — well within their official refund window.
It’s now been 5 days, and all I’ve gotten is a circus:
→ Google Play denied the refund, told me to contact the developer
→ Developer said Google handles all refunds
→ Went back to Google with proof, and now they say “contact your bank” if the payment already went through
I haven’t even gone to the bank yet — I’m just exhausted from being passed around like a refund football.
I followed all the right steps, even stayed in the time limit, and they’re still not helping.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Is this how Google Play handles refunds now?

Do not go to your bank. If you do a recharge against Google they can and will block your entire account. You lose everything. Email address, photos, purchases, the lot.

In App Purchases are different and DO NOT HAVE A TWO HOUR WINDOW AT ALL. only the dev can refund yes, chargeback will lock down your Google Account The terms changed AGAIN. Developer country of origin now impacts refundability.
