Tips for Privacy Checkup
Please describe details of this “privacy” checkup. I suspect your details will answer your question for you. What even is a privacy checkup? I mean, if you have an app downloaded, you are probably giving it some permissions. And those permissions probably provide them with info that you may consider private. If you don’t want them to have that info, you’ll have to delete that app. There is no true private phone. Everyone has a different opinion on how much privacy they are willing to give up. I have no facebook, twitter, instagram, or any social media apps at all on my phone, because most of them track you with gps and that violates my privacy imo. But others may not care about gps being tracked but don’t want to allow access to photos or contact lists. You see where Im going here, right? Before you can do a privacy checkup, you must first inventory where you stand on each privacy intrusion. Then go hunt down all violators and delete them.

I posted about a surprise privacy check-up email a week ago. Turns out it's a new scam, found some articles about it. I clicked the link, but did not enter any information, so I'm most likely safe, still a bit worried. I wanted to warm other people about it, so they don't inevitably do the dumb thing I did. I'm kind of frustrated that these kind of things happen, but what can you do I guess? Just be careful out there, people!
Here's a link to the article for anyone interested: https://www.forbes.com/sites/daveywinder/2025/04/27/new-gmail-feature-warning---millions-of-email-users-could-be-at-risk/
Today I received a Google Privacy Checkup email from [email protected]. There were no mistakes in the writing, there wasn't anything suspicious, but I got the email out of nowhere. I clicked on the button "Check your privacy settings" and it opened my browser. I did not enter any information. Is it legitimate? Do you get these emails too?
