How accurate is Google Translate for pronunciation?
The pronunciation sounds mostly very natural to me, albeit slower than how people usually speak. This is assuming you’re referring to the France-French voice. If you’re in Canada, you’ll hear the Canadian French voice, and I don’t know how natural that one sounds to a Québécois for example. Do you have an example of a word you think it might be saying weirdly? You could switch to using forvo.com or youglish.com instead, to hear actual humans. More on reddit.com
How accurate is Google Translate's French pronunciation?
In my experience, Google Translate works wonders with French->English and vice versa, with the exception of idioms, but idioms don’t work with any language anyway. In this instance, the translation appears to be somewhat accurate, although the phrasing feels a bit weird but that’s to be expected. Edit: Oops More on reddit.com
French pronunciation of Google translate.
Good job with that level at 4 months dude. But yes I would say Google translate it an acceptable way to learn the words. I've been using it to repeat a word enough times where I understand these words automatically. Also, don't worry about not understanding all the words you can read. Just listen to French YOU UNDERSTAND/ALREADY STUDIED. It will seem repetitive but it's an amazing way to join written and oral French together. However whatever you're doing is alright if you understand the grammar and are trying to learn oral already. So keep doing what you're doing friend. More on reddit.com
Is there a "simple trick" to learning proper pronunciation for words?
I don’t believe there is a standard sentence like that but you could make one up. Example: il est parfois important que notre chauffeur prépare de bons pneus lorsqu’on patrouille les rues très huileuses de Grenoble et Rouen. Google's pronunciation is very accurate. I think it contains every possible sound or combination that would be difficult for an English speaker to pronounce. More on reddit.com

r/French on Reddit: How accurate is Google Translate for pronunciation?
June 17, 2025 -
I sometimes used Google translate to look up words quickly and/or to hear them. But sometimes there are differences in how it says it and how I have heard it in public. I know sometimes the translations are off, and was wondering about the pronunciations

November 14, 2021 - Just like in English e is not pronounced at the end of many words, in French, you have the same situation. The basic thing you need to remember here is that unless there’s an accent on that e or it’s a part of a two-letter word (such as le or ce), it’s not pronounced. So, for example, the correct pronunciation for the word “livre” would be /livr/.
