Getting percentile from z-score
Yes, there most definitely is. The function you want is the normal cumulative distribution function (cdf) NORMSDIST if you already have the z-score. If you don't want to convert to z-score first, you can also use NORMDIST with the info you used to find the z-score. More on reddit.com

A teacher offered anyone who can memorize this Z score table gets a free A+ for the 4th quarter. It‘s been done in the past and there are different patterns present. I have the data and differences in a google sheets file. I look forward to working with you all on this. Reddit, let’s do this thing!
Well whatever you gotta do to get A+, it's gonna be more useful and easier, in fact, than memorizing this by heart, trust me I don't know anything about your teacher but this seems like a really bad job at teaching math More on reddit.com

January 15, 2020 -

So I have data sets from the CDC that include a formula to calculate a variety of statistics for a given age using a given Z-score, but for my project it would be much easier if I could input a percentile and get the results for that percentile. How can I convert a percentile into its corresponding Z-score?

Adding two scores of 18 and saying the student had a score of 36 out of 40 devalues what is a phenomenal performance on the first test. Converting to z-scores, the relative strength of the performance on test one is valued more strongly. The z-score on test one would be (18-10)/2 = 4, while on test two the z-score would be (18-10)/8 = 1.
