Shopping on Google: AI Mode and virtual try-on updates from I/O 2025
May 20, 2025 - When you’re shopping for shirts, pants, skirts and dresses on Google, simply tap the “try it on” icon on product listings. From there you can upload a full-length photo of yourself — and within moments, you’ll see how that wedding-season maxi dress or playful shirt for your next vacation looks on you. Not quite ready to commit and need a second opinion? You can easily save the looks or share with friends. It’s been incredible to see how AI is taking us into a new phase of shopping in Search, where you can truly ask — and shop for — anything.

AI transforms shopping in Search - Think with Google
May 1, 2025 - If you want to narrow your options to bags suitable for a May trip to Portland, Oregon, AI Mode will fan out its query. This means it runs several simultaneous searches to figure out what makes a bag good for rainy weather and long journeys, and then uses those criteria to suggest waterproof options with easy access to pockets. The new right-side panel dynamically updates with relevant products and images as you go, helping you pinpoint exactly what you’re looking for and discover new brands. These shopping features are coming to AI Mode in the U.S.

Google pushes AI deeper into its empire of search, shopping, and work products at its developer conference
Honestly, this feels like Google doubling down on making AI a layer across its entire ecosystem, not just a feature. From summarizing emails in Gmail to turning Search into a conversation, they’re clearly trying to redefine how we interact with the internet. But part of me wonders… are we gaining smarter tools or just giving up more control? Curious to hear how others feel: Are these changes actually improving your productivity, or is it just AI for the sake of AI? More on reddit.com

Have you used Google Search's AI Mode and AI Shopping yet? What do you think?
You can easily access AI Mode from another country with a VPN. I'm still not sure what it offers that you can't do through regular Gemini tbh. Especially now Google Search is integrated into the 2.5 models. More on reddit.com

1 month ago - The AI-powered response pulls from Google’s trove of 50 billion product listings and is tailored to the specific request: a side-by-side chart if the user is asking for comparisons of specific items, or a stream of product image cards if they’re looking for general suggestions. Users can click into items, visit retailer sites, see historic pricing data, and track price changes all from AI Mode, and there will be sponsored listings (i.e., ads) in results. Google is also adding the shopping features to the Gemini app for US users.
