Apple says the user`s credit card data will not be stored on Apple servers or merchants` servers, which is great for privacy, but storing it locally, on the device, might increase the risk of identity theft. The NFC chip is strictly limited to the mobile payment platform, as opposed to Google Wallet, which is a cross-platform service.

Though Apple has been gradually working on improvements to Apple Wallet with iOS 26, such as better order tracking, I can't help but feel like Google Wallet is simply light years ahead of Apple when it comes to storing cards and payments, and as we enter a digital era that includes passports and IDs, I really hope Apple gets with the program and copies this extremely useful Google Wallet feature soon so I can catch up with my speedy Android-owning friends.
