I know this situation is stressful and many of us (myself included) are anxious about it, but I'm waiting for a couple more weeks to see if we can see more clearly after the dust settles. It seems that not even the support teams have enough information now. I upgraded in January and haven't reached out to support yet about the wait list, but there have been a few reports of people that either had their support cases dismissed (like you) or were asked to wait before they can be put into the wait list ( like this thread ). We jumped the gun and upgraded to Workspace without enough information. This time I'm trying to avoid the same mistake of commiting to something that they will change in a week or so. I had a Google Workspace that was originally on Google Workspace Essentials Starter. I want to switch it to Google Workspace Business Starter. All of the Google support docs walk you through the steps, but there's no way for me to switch from essentials to business.
I tried upgrading my Essential Starter to Essentials Enterprise. When I did that, I could see the option to select Business Starter. However, there was a notice that I could not switch because I was on an active plan.
If I downgrade back to Essentials Starter, I will now be in a spot where I can't see Business Starter. I'm stuck in Google purgatory.
How do I get my essentials starter account switched to a business starter? Do I need to start the whole process over?

Sounds like you’re caught in a billing loop. Try canceling Essentials altogether, wait for it to reset, then start fresh with Business Starter. Might take a couple days, but it’s cleaner than playing ping-pong with upgrades and downgrades.
