Google Workspace Essentials Starter FAQ is Incorrect!

I know this situation is stressful and many of us (myself included) are anxious about it, but I'm waiting for a couple more weeks to see if we can see more clearly after the dust settles. It seems that not even the support teams have enough information now. I upgraded in January and haven't reached out to support yet about the wait list, but there have been a few reports of people that either had their support cases dismissed (like you) or were asked to wait before they can be put into the wait list ( like this thread ). We jumped the gun and upgraded to Workspace without enough information. This time I'm trying to avoid the same mistake of commiting to something that they will change in a week or so. I tried creating a Google Workspace Essentials Starter edition account for my small (<5 people) business. We already have a custom domain, and don't need email (hosted elsewhere). However after creating a Workspace account and going to admin.google.com, I kept only being shown an option to buy the Business Starter edition. No way to access the admin panel without going through this.

Is the Essentials Starter edition gone or something?

Yep that's all you need to do - you'll then get a code sent to your email address (confirming you own that address) and you can continue from there.

Hi, I'm setting up some simple bookkeeping for a small business, and I stumbled upon this Google Workspace Essentials Starter offering. I have googled for the following questions, but so far have found no answers. I have searched this subreddit but also found nothing. So I'm hoping you guys can help out :)

I already have a custom email domain (not gmail), so I believe we should be eligible. (please CMIIW)

Now, I'm trying to figure out:

Can I invite people who use gmail.com emails to this GW account?
Are Google Docs / Google Sheets (there will be quite a few of these) still uncounted (always 0 bytes), or will they take up space?
Does the GW account have the Shared Drive feature? And if yes,
1. Can we invite people with gmail accounts or other domain emails to collaborate in these Shared Drives?
2. If collaborators create files in these Shared Drives, will the files belong to this GW account?
3. Is the 15GB per user space pooled, or only for individual users?

I am with a startup MSP company. We started our Google Workspaces with the "Essentials Starter" (free) package to get everyone used to the platform since most of us all come from lifetime Microsoft product users lol. I would like to move our email from our junk hosted domain email system to Gmail with custom domain. From the looks of it, I need to upgrade our Essentials Starter to Business Starter so we can add a custom domain and Gmail to our Workspace. Well, everything I've read in their help section says to go to workspace admin > billing > subscriptions > choose Business Starter and upgrade to you.

The issue is our subscriptions only show we can upgrade to Google Workspace Enterprise Essentials which is 10/users/per month. Which does not include Gmail services either. Only more storage etc.

Since we aren't a paid subscriber yet we cannot contact support. Anyone have any ideas on how we can upgrade?

According to this google support page you must first upgrade to Enterprise essentials and then you'll be able to downgrade to a business package. Though I can't confirm that it actually works.
