I thought I would try bottom, but I didn't even bother trying it. Top doesn't really get in the way (you forget it's there after a day or two) and I like that it's less likely to pick up any ambient light from above. Answer from daddytorgo on reddit.com

August 6, 2020 - Is the install different if I'm mounting on the bottom or does it know left from right and top from button during the calibration? ... definitely return it and get the new one. Govee is actually having a sale right now so it's a good time! when you install the new setup it asks where the camera is during the calibration.

Govee Immersion TV LED backlights
The downside of mounting the camera at the bottom is an increase in light interference, affecting the accuracy of the Immersion backlight colors. In my setup, I have light spilling in from a nearby garden door creating some minor interference. In the image slider below, you can see how the light output of the Govee ...

r/Govee on Reddit: How intrusive is the camera?
May 7, 2022 -

I've just ordered a nice new 75" TV that I'm planning to wall mount. I would have liked an Ambilight one but my budget didn't stretch that far, so I was thinking of adding the Dreamview T1. I'm just wondering how intrusive the camera is though. I don't think I'll have anywhere else to put it apart from at the top of the screen. As nice as the backlights are, if they rely on a camera that is going to get in the way of the TV content then it doesn't seem worth it. So for those of you who have added the camera at the top of the screen, have you lost access to the TV content at all? What else should I be aware of re installing the camera in the top / middle?

r/Govee - Can you mount the camera for the immersion set on the bottom of the TV?
February 24, 2018 -

I want to get the Govee immersion kit but I really don't like the antenna thing hanging over my tv. It breaks the clean lines of the top of the tv and looks unattractive imo. Is it possible to set the camera on the bottom of the tv and aim up instead of pointing towards the floor and hang down?

Govee Immersion TV backlight review: The best way to recreate the movie theater experience
In my setup, I could easily "hide" ... at the bottom of the TV, where it blends into my soundbar and PlayStation Eye camera. Some other setups might not work as well, and putting the camera on the top of the TV just doesn't look great. If the extra hardware doesn't bother you, though, then this may not apply. The biggest disadvantage of the Govee Immersion TV backlight ...

r/Govee on Reddit: Immersion Kit H61991D1 OLED Camera Placement
February 17, 2020 -

I ordered this kit for my LG 55” CX thinking the camera has a back plate and planned to cut out some foam to attach to the backing to provide a pressure fit to the top of the panel an alleviate the need to use any sort of sticky adhesive on my panel.

Looking closely at the product it seems the camera is flat on the bottom with a lip designed to leverage over the front of the panel.. I was curious if anyone has installed the camera top mounted on their oled? It seems precarious due to the slim surface area..

What about bottom mounting?

What are your camera install tips when using OLED?

January 8, 2021 - I tried setting it up all the way to the edge of the bottom where the corners rest on the top of the screen but that didn't work. Couldn't get a good calibration. So I placed the camera on the edge of the top of the scree. Like almost the back of the camera stand touching the top of the TV. It picked up all the scree that way and better respond to colors. ... Govee Immersion TV backlight review - scene matching LED glow for so much less! - The Gadgeteer
January 29, 2021 - I tried both, and top mounting was more visible (it looks a bit strange to have a little camera hanging off the front of your TV), but bottom mounting resulted in more reflected room light affecting the LED colors. The only other method that Ive seen for television ambient-lighting relies on running a digital video signal through a box of some sort. This then requires processing of that video signal and interpreting frames to determine edge colors. This is probably the reason for the high cost of most ambient television lighting systems. Govee’s camera-based system is an interesting alternative, and has the added advantage of no issues with the HDMI signal (I’ve heard that other systems can have issues with ruining surround sound or not being compatible with 4k signals, etc.)

r/Govee on Reddit: Govee Immersion Constant Purple issue resolved and bottom mount tip
October 21, 2020 -

I’ve had constant issues with the leds mostly showing purple no matter what. Based on another post, I decided to put my sound bar under the camera. This tilts the camera more towards the tv. I am now getting a much better color spectrum matching the scenes on the tv. On certain scenes with a lot going on it does go purple, but for a second. I will it is a thousand times better now. Still some minor tuning but I am now happy with it.

Get your camera tilted, will be 1000 times better if you ar having issues with bottom mount setup.

September 14, 2021 - Govee’s Immersion lights require you to attach the included camera to either the top or bottom of your TV; this is how the strips’ lights synchronize with the colors on your screen.

If you have a smart tv / apps etc...go to Youtube and search Govee Immerson setup / calibration etc....and there's a bunch of helpful vids which essentially put the orange cubes on the screen (on a looped vid) and there's one that does with the camera at the top and bottom...the idea being you don't have to faff around sticking stuff to you screen you can just jump straight to getting the camera calibration I actually found pinning what would be the top of the screen ...near the middle..and found that it picked up more interesting colour / contrasts from there...rather than trying to stretch the grid into all 4 corners.
