As the title states, I’m installing our 150ft Govee Permanent Outdoor Light kit tomorrow. I know the instructions say to install on the eaves, quite close to the wall (5cm). I saw a YouTube video suggesting their preference quite a bit further out. Just wondering how far out from the wall people mounted them, and/or if there’s a common recommendation here.

I started installing mine today. This was an hour long internal struggle. Ultimately I went with around 3 inches (that’s what she said). Honestly I would take a light strip out tonight and put it up against your wall at different distances to see what you like. Good luck!

Hello all!
I am jumping on the train of permanent Christmas lights and have a warm-ish day coming up to get em set up. My house is a bit strange though in it's construction and has 2-3' eves from the edge of the house in some spots.
I guess what I am wondering is if I should put them as close to the house as I can for best lighting or will that look tacky with the LEDs clearly visible to anyone walking around the house?
My eaves look similar to this in style, except more flat of an angle. The roof pitch is 2/12ish.
EDIT: 150ft kit if it matters?

Pro tip: a piece of 2X4 or 1X4 will give you a consistent 3 1/2” spacing.

I think it really depends on how long your eaves are. My eaves are extremely long on the side facing the street and I had to go 5-6" away from the wall to get some decent projection. When I had it 2-3" you could barely see it from the street.
