Of course higher rpm will always cause more wear overtime but you still may never see them fail. You’ll most likely upgrade before that happens. But keeping them around 90% or under is good. Leaving them at 100% does not get you that much more cooling compared to noise/wear you will get. 85-90% of the fans ability should keep you within a degree or 2 of what having the fans wide open would. Is my gpu fan speed normal | Tom's Hardware Forum
May 11, 2018 - yes those are normal rpm's. your card will ramp up and down to keep it's self cooled down. the rpm's are not what you need to be worried about it's temps while gaming. as long as you are staying under 80c you should be fine, just keep in mind that the cooler your card is the better it will ...

GPU Fan Speed at 1000 RPM: Is This the Right Coolant for Your Compact Build?
Fan speed alone doesn’t determine thermal performanceit's how effectively heat moves from the heatsink into ambient air. At just 1000 RPM, many stock or low-profile GPUs can't overcome stagnant air in tight enclosures, especially if their fin density isn’t optimized for slow-spinning operation.

r/buildapc on Reddit: GPU fans 1000 RPM in idle at 30°C, zero RPM mode broken?
May 16, 2023 -

Hello,

I got some problems with the zero RPM mode on my 4080 XLR8. I see in the HWMonitor program idle an RPM for the case fans and the cooling fans of around 300. The GPU fans were at 1000.

I booted up the PC again earlier and it was almost silent when the lock screen appeared, which doesn't happen that often (sometimes they don't go silent until half a minute being in Windows, often they never go silent). The GPU fans are then displayed to me at 0 RPM, so the fans are off. However, they do not go back to this state after a stresstest with Furmark or a game. They jump to around 1300 during Furmark, after Furmark they stay permanently at 1000. Even if the temperature of the graphics card is around 30°C again after half a minute. Thus, the Zero Fan Mode doesn't start again (or often never starts in the first place).

Is the zero fan mode on my GPU broken? Or is there a setting, I can use?

March 6, 2024 - GPU Tweak is not allow to lower than 1000PRM, Afterbunner too. ... no traditional way. though asus did create the strix (its called i believe), which stop the fan when gpu not in use and temps are low.

r/buildapc on Reddit: Safe GPU Fan RPM Speed in relation GPU temps....?!?
January 22, 2022 -

Hi all,

I have a MSI 1660 Ti VENTUS XS 6G OC .

Idle Fan Speed RPM is 1500 RPM at 45 degrees.

At full load gaming Fan Speed RPM is around 3600 RPM at 80 degrees, which i find to be TOO Noisy.

Recently i came across Afterburner.

With afterburner ( defaSliders, not undervolting/overclocking will try later)

the highest i was able to get was:

CPU power limit @ 86%

TEMP limit @ 80 degrees.

Fan Speed RPM 2600 RPM (Pleasant gaming experience )

the lowest i was able to get was:

CPU power limit @ 75%

TEMP limit @ 73 degrees.

Fan Speed RPM 2000 RPM (Very peaceful gaming experience )

So i had some doubts:

  1. is it ok to run the gpu at 2600 rpm @ 80 degrees or on the lower side gpu at 2000 rpm @ 73 degrees for a gaming duration say 1-2 hrs...?

2 . Is there a chart or reference table which shows values as in what fan rpm is suitable for what gpudegrees ? can someone pls share picture /links?

Thanks a ton.

Question - Is this gpu fan speed/RPM safe? | Tom's Hardware Forum
June 20, 2022 - Your gpu temperatures are good under load. Perhaps too good. 80c. might be what I expect. Did you do the custom curve? What was the objective? I would be inclined to stick with stock settings. ... I did the custom curve to help keep my temps low, I live on a warm place and there are no ACs in my room This is the curve I'm using: At 65% fan speed it rotates at 2200 RPM Maximum I got was 2500RPM at 75%, but I know it can hit 3000RPM at 85% fan speed if it ever hits 80°C.

Answer (1 of 2): Does it ever cut off and stop after a bit? 1K is not a fast speed for a cooling fan but to run all the time is not normal. How do you know the speed. What program are you using?
