I have this one for my daughter and it’s a great seat. It fits in most cars and works both forward facing and rear facing (and booster I think?). Technically, no, you wouldn’t need an infant car seat on top of that one but infant car seats have their perks of being easy to take in and out of the car, fits on strollers, etc, which is extremely useful when your little one is young. Car seat tech here- the 4ever is fine, as long as you have realistic expectations. It’s a perfectly great seat in rear facing and forward facing harness modes. But booster modes suck and it’s not actually the last seat your kids will ever need! It’s a huge seat and sits up high in the car, so most kids really struggle to buckle themselves when it’s time for booster mode- a skill that’s way easier to master in a “dedicated booster” (a seat that doesn’t have a harness at all) because it sits lower to the vehicle seat and the buckle is easier to reach. From a child fit perspective, the 4ever is also outgrown by height earlier than most boosters because the height for the booster belt guide is shorter (the belt guide must be slightly above shoulder level for a proper and safe seatbelt fit, so a shorter belt guide = faster outgrown seat even if the on-paper height and weight rules look the same for two different seats). And the backless booster mode is awkward, bulky, and uncomfortable for a lot of kids because their knees end up sitting way higher than their bottoms. Plus- what 7-10yo wants to be riding in the same car seat they potty trained in?! All that to say, if the 4ever has the harness mode features that you want, and/or you get a good deal on it, go for it! There’s nothing wrong with it as a harnessed car seat. But you’ll need/want a separate booster eventually, so if you’re drawn to the 4ever because of the marketing about “only seat you’ll ever need” then skip it, your expectations won’t be met. (This isn’t just a 4ever issue- the same drawbacks apply to just about every car seat that tries to offer 4 modes of use and market itself as the only car seat a kid will need. Unfortunately at this point, there aren’t any seats that successfully pack that many functions into one product and manage to execute all the functions well/better than more staged separate seats. But! Boosters are cheap when the time comes, and things could change by the time your kids are 5-6 and booster ready! So focus on what they need for harness mode and worry about the booster situation later.)

I was eyeing the Graco 3 in 1 seat because it's apparently great and easy to install and remove (we don't have a car so we do car share).
But now the 4 in 1 model is at the same price... Do we splurge?
It will mean that we won't have an infant car seat with the handle, to carry around our baby while doing groceries. Will it be a problem?
Does anybody have any experience with that car seat model and how did you find it?

Do you mean the trio grow vs the 4ever? I’ve had the Uppababy Mesa (infant), and then three Graco convertible seats - triogrow (in my moms car), extend 2 fit in my MILs car, and the 4ever in our car. It depends on your lifestyle if you want an infant car seat or not. Personally I loved the infant seat, it’s so convenient. you buckle the baby in the house which is amazing in the winter and the summer since the seat doesn’t get too hot or too cold. If you’re running in somewhere quickly and they’re asleep you don’t have to wake them up. The graco’s are basically all the same it’s just what you prioritize. If you search the fb group SEATS 4 Kids they can help you pick the best seat for your vehicle. Edit: just re-read and you don’t have a car, but you can still post there and see what they say! -Trio-Grow - super easy to install, but I found all of these seats easy to install Extend 2 Fit - extended rear facing to 50 lbs 4 ever - converts to booster but people say it can have issues in booster mode and also seats gets NASTY so you want to replace them anyways by that time.
