I bought a Little Blue stem plant without researching it. Please help!
I have some little blue stem in a dry part-sun spot and it is NOT taking over at all. You should be fine. It'll take awhile to get established and then it mainly widens where it is and it puts out seeds every so often so you just have to watch for sprouts - in which case, move them around the yard or pot them up and give them away! Grasses don't have rhizomes so they won't, like, wander 50 feet away underground (looking at you trumpet vine). Mainly they expand in their spot and then dump seeds nearby. Some aren't self-fertile so they won't even seed themselves. If you want a well behaved little grass try prairie dropseed! It stays nice and small, i have never had any of mine make babies. River oats is the one that MOST self-seeds itself for me, and then only in like a 5 foot area. Switchgrass puts out a FEW babies for me every year that I have to remove but otherwise isn't too bad.
