November 7, 2023 - As you can see, when it’s dry, Mapei’s Frost is a super light grays (I show it here compared to Avalanche, which is a soft white) which you might not expect from the appearance of the grout when you mix it. Once I made my sample boards and put my mosaic up next to them, the choice for my own kitchen was obvious. I wanted my mosaic to be the star of the show so I went with the lightest gray. But I did love several of the darker grays that I sampled too and would likely have chosen one of them if I had all subway tile with no mosaic.

Searched this sub and for pics online. We have butcher block counter tops, some floating shelves with black brackets, and beautiful dark blue cabinets. I have all my white subway tile up with 3/16" spacers and am debating on grout color. Our walls have a fair amount of imperfections and angles which is why I went with the larger grout line. I'm so used to using gray grout to make the tile pop, but wondering if white will make the cabinets stand out more (in a good way). Also wondering which will look better long term / will the white fade quickly?

Dark grout really exposes any imperfections in subway tile installs, so if you think your tiles might deviate even a little bit, you should go with white, or light grey, I installed my backsplash myself and went with white because I know my own limit.

I would do a light gray. I'm not a fan of the super dark grout lines, but you don't want white because it gets discolored and dirty looking really quickly.

I usually recommend a light grey rather than white. White is very hard to keep clean over the years. It's good to seal new installations twice with a good quality impregnator sealer like 511.

I have Subway Ceramics white tile. I went with the lightest grey grout my tile guy had and spaced them 1/16th apart. Turned out beautiful. We chose light grey for a couple of reasons. First, we wanted the tile pattern to be emphasized. Second, it wouldn't show dirt like white or linen would.
