Handmade Green Silk Edwardian Evening Dress
My completed green silk Edwardian evening gown. I used heavily modified pattern Butterick 5970. The main fabric is habotai silk, the skirt ruffles are silk charmeuse, the sleeves are silk chiffon. It's fully flatlined in cotton, top is lined in linen, and the lace is a table runner. I hand sewed the sleeves to a fitted flatlined lining, and hand stitched the beads and lace onto the top. The lining is boned with plastic boning and has a waist tape and sweat guards, sand I added ruffles to the lining to create volume.
The pattern called for flannel interlining on the skirt hem, I lengthened the skirt by 3 inches, and added some width to the back panels to have more fullness. I hand sewed and beaded the belt. The hat started out as a plain base that I sewed wire to the edge and green silk to the top. I hot glued flowers all over the brim.
