Last year, I lived in Greenville and paid my vehicle property tax to Greenville County in April. I moved to Easley at the beginning of this year and changed my license and registration to reflect that. I received a tax bill for my vehicle from Greenville County since it's time to pay again, despite having changed everything over to Pickens County/Easley a couple months ago. My question is since I no longer live in Greenville County, do I still pay the bill from them? Or do I pay a visit to the Pickens County Tax Collector's office and have them generate a bill from Pickens County?
Thanks for all the help, either way I'm probably going to give them a call but wanted to check here first since it isn't dire.
You have to pay tax on your already bought vehicles every year in SC? What in the world, lol.
Yesterday received a tax notice for husband’s truck. It is 25 years old. The DMV renewal fee and tax fees went up $300 since last year. Most of the increase is the SC DMV Decal Fee.
I looked on the DMV site which had a breakdown of various fees, but the bill doesn’t show which fees were applied. But on a 25 year old truck this increase seems excessive.
If you know what the deal is, explain it to me like I’m 5 how this increase happened (besides people in Columbia are ridiculous) and if there is any way to Appeal. Thanks y’all.
The decal on my car’s license plate expires in October, so I looked online to find and pay the tax bill. Receipts showing payment in 2022 and in earlier years are available, but no tax bill for 2023 is available online, either under my name or the vehicle identification number.
Is anyone else having a hard time getting a tax bill to pay?
I guess I’ll just head to County Square with a copy of my insurance info, driver’s license, etc.
Thanks.
