I would start with what your groom wants to wear. Does he want to wear a suit or tux? What color does he like? He should be the one to make these decisions. Has he ever owned a suit or tux before? He might already know of a place that has sizes that fit him. If not, I think you’re on the right track to make sure any suit place has inclusive sizing. If he’s totally unfamiliar with suits and suit shopping, I’d suggest he goes in person to a suit shop (even just a chain like Men’s Warehouse) to look around and see how it works. He doesn’t have to buy anything or try anything on, but he could ask all his questions to the staff there. Plus they’ll take his measurements for free so he can take that somewhere else if he wants! I wore: Black dress pants and a black suit jacket from a local men’s store, tailoring included: $295 A nice black tie and black dress socks I treated myself to: $27.95 A black button down and vest I found at Goodwill: ~$15 Black dress shoes I’ve had since graduation and the undershirt I wore on our first date and some special occasion boxer briefs: on hand A boutonnière provided by an aunt: donated Here it is all together. I am not a men’s fashion guy so this was one of the most intimidating parts of the wedding for me, but the folks who eventually tailored me were lovely and made me feel comfortable after I passed on a few other places for failing to do so! Hello! I’m trying to decide what to wear to my wedding. It’ll be warm and mid day/early evening with a garden party vibe. Is a tux too dressy? I’ve tried on colored suits and I feel like a clue character in them, I don’t wanna do anything too basic either, I wanna sorta stand out from the guests. But is a tux too stand out? Is it okay since I’m the groom? Any other suggestions? Right now I’m thinking like a light ish blue. Not dumb and dumber but more like a heathered/robins egg. I’m all over the place lol someone help! Traditionally a tuxedo isn't worn until the evening, if that makes a difference for you. But I don't see why you have to come up with some oddball suit color. If you're buying, you'll get little use out of a light blue suit, and if you're renting, it's going to look like prom night. Why not just wear a nice navy suit, which is like the equivalent of a little black dress for a woman? You can use a tie and a boutonniere to bring in whatever colors you all have chosen.
