I started playing a few months ago. I've been playing on a 20 year old Johnson acoustic guitar that was probably $50 bucks and a borrowed alvarez acoustic. I received a GC gift card recently and am looking to buy a guitar in the $500ish range. Is there a good time to buy at GC? Like do they actually run any really good Black Friday/Christmas sales? Or am I simply looking at getting a max 10-20% off regardless of the time of year?
Any recommendations how to get the best deal at GC or on guitars in that price range for a wide range of styles?

If something goes on sale within 45 days of purchase, they’ll refund you the difference. You likely won’t get a discount for a floor model unless it shows a lot of signs of wear. Being nice and respectful will make it much more likely that employees/managers will want to help you out. If you have something to trade in, go for something new and get the 10% off. Otherwise going used is your best bet. If a guitar has been on the used wall for over 3 months, they might lower the price a bit. They’ll price match with Sweetwater and Amazon. Good luck!

I actually just saved about $400 last night off of a new guitar I am eagerly waiting for! My advice is to trade something in. You’ll get a 10% discount off of whatever you buy, plus the trade in value goes towards it. So if you’re looking at a $500 guitar you could already get it for about $400. Another thing to do is buy a floor model. They take money off because it is a floor model so that could take off maybe like $50? They also tax the price after all of the discounts too, so it becomes even cheaper. As for sales, I believe that they don’t let you use the 10% discount towards an item that’s on sale or clearance.
