So yeah, when the UPS driver was carrying it, and the box was deforming under his arm, I knew my Christmas present to myself was fucked.
GC used a box a foot too long, then only put 6 little rolls of bubble wrap in it, nothing around the synth. UPS dropped it at least Twice.
Synthmas is ruined.

One time I bought a used $2,300 bass guitar from them. They sent the wrong one in a box just like that and it was also broken in much the same way. Their packers are smooth brain wild. It’s insane. Even if it was some 15 year old kid I would imagine they know how to use bubble wrap. It’s a special kind of dullard… Two weeks later they had that fucker back up on the website listed the same incorrect way without a disclaimer about the big ol missing chunk out of the body.

A few weeks ago, I saw that GC was selling a Tribute Asat Deluxe for $800. I happened to be selling one for $400ish. The market seems to hold around $400-500 for these used. So I brought it in to guitar center.
I paid $400 after shipping last year for it. Guitar center gave me $475.
So for everyone who has gotten rooked but needed the cash (and seeing their volume of nice used gear, there’s a lot) , rest assured knowing that one of us has finally won a round.

I didn't realize they were forcing people at gunpoint to trade in their gear... Seriously people, the ability to sell something instantly is something that costs you money vs listing on facebook marketplace or whatever. It's not a scam. In fact I think it's usually pretty fair.

Guitar Center does a good job at curating used gear and making sure it works. You end up paying a little more, but they also back up their sales. I always try to buy used first, unless it's some special edition item.

Brand new, want to pick up a bass to play around with at home. Is Guitar Center well regarded as a place to pick up a decent used bass? or should I just look for something private party used even though I don't really know what to look for?
Edit: Ended up buying a used S101 from a local shop for $60, thanks for the advice folks.
