My LP was made in Korea in 2001 apparently. Wow. I would have guessed it was a month used from the condition, not 8 years.

How reliable www.guitardaterproject.org method of serial number decoding?
That website isn't always accurate. I've had Gibson's fresh from the factory (not GC or a retailer) with signed paperwork detailing when and where it was made that didn't line up with the websites dating. More on reddit.com

August 20, 2016Could someone help me with the serial number of my Ibanez PC12MHCE-0PN? I suspect its a knockoff, i put the serial number on the guitar dater project and it says "unrecognized". The guitar appears to be original and very similar to the photos on the Ibanez website.
It's original. If I'm correct the Guitar Dater Project only recognizes the serials of electric guitars from Ibanez More on reddit.com

I suggest learning how to read the serials rather than using a website. The serial can only tell you the date it was stamped and some of these sites try to tell you it’s a specific model.
I use Reverb’s guide in a pinch if it’s not the usual YDDDYXXXX format.

Hello,
Relatively amateur at guitars and bought my first Gibson used via GuitarCenter (I know there are better places) but when I came across the Guitar Dater Project I decided to run my serial. This is supposed to be a 2016 Les Paul 50's Tribute however the number they kicked out was 2010 for the year made.
How they say the serials should be broken down, also my serial number
The manufacturing info they report.
Did I buy what I thought I bought? Looking it over it seems correct overall when I looked it over but if I'm paying lots of money might as well I figured I'd ask the experts.
