5:30pm Ceremony - Afternoon or Evening? | Weddings, Etiquette and Advice | Wedding Forums | WeddingWire
April 10, 2013 - Evening is defined as 6pm to bedtime. I would say "at five-thirty in the afternoon". ... Yeah I think I would consider that "half past five in the afternoon".

Invitation time wording - half past four, four thirty - & should I include 'afternoon'?
The Emily-Post-correct phrasing would be "half after four" rather than "half past four". You don't need to mention that it's the afternoon because, as another commenter mentioned, 4.30 in the morning would be such an unreasonable start time. Personally, we just went with "half after five" and no "o'clock" because we thought it sounded a little smoother and more appropriate for our wedding, but I believe both are correct. The time can be written in a variety of ways to fit your style and theme. For example, if your wedding is at 5:30 p.m. the traditional wording to use is "half after five o’clock" or "five-thirty in the evening." If this is too formal for your style, you may write the time simply as 5:30 p.m.

Invitation Advisor: By The Numbers – How To Write Dates And Times On Wedding Invitations | The Invitation Blog @ Hip Ink
March 6, 2012 - When it comes to invitations, most etiquette mavens will tell you that indeed, evening begins at 6 pm, so if your ceremony is at 5:30 pm, you’ll need to say “half past five in the afternoon” rather than “half past five in the evening”. Frankly, “half past five in the evening” just sounds really wrong to me somehow; but, that said, I don’t think you’ll be tarred and feathered if you feel it makes more sense to you.

September 24, 2019 - The abbreviations “a.m.” and “p.m.” should not be used. Use instead the phrases “in the morning” or “in the evening” can be used · The proper reference to a half hour is “half after,” not “half past.” So 5:30 would be written as “ half after five o’clock”.
