Correct z bar flashing for hardie board and batten?
u/mhcolca I am trying to do whats in this image: https://imgur.com/aNso2fY From the Hardie guidance, it looks like the flashing needs to go under the panel. Below the flashing Z, the trim is covered from the top, but the trim goes over the panel, hence the measurements. Is this not how its done? If I butted up the panel to the trim, the measurements would work out better, but the waterproofing would fail. More on reddit.com

July 8, 2023Best product for board/batten siding: LP, TruWood, or Hardie?
I prefer hardie. I left a couple pieces laying soaking on my deck over a Canadian winter and then put them back on the house in the spring. A little fragile at first, but now I can't tell which ones they were. Dust is an issue, and installation is big since you can put up full sheets with fewer breaks in the siding. Get a nibbler if dust is a big concern. More on reddit.com

Boral and Azek may make products that could work for board and batten. Also, if it comes down to it, don't compromise durability and longevity over a horizontal seam that could be hidden or minimized on a garage exterior. You will regret it. More on reddit.com

October 25, 2023 - I will be doing a Hardie panel board and batten siding for my garage. If I use the 3/4 inch Hardie battens over 5/16 inch panels, that adds up to 17/16 inch thickness. That will stand proud of the 5/4 (one inch) trim by 1/16 inch. Am I missing something or is this the way it is?
