So, I’m building a home and have hit a snag. My contractor has informed me that we will not finish on time due to siding availability. He has 3 different options to choose from and I’m at an impasse. Vinyl siding (wrong color) at $0 increase, Hardie board facing with lap siding on sides and back of house at a $2500 increase (paint included), or Hardie board all around at $6500 increase (paint included). Which option would be the best or what are the pros and cons? This is our first home and I don’t want to choose wrong.

my current home has concrete aka hardie board siding. Its over 20 years old and i am pretty sure its never been painted. It looks great. I hose it down with some spray on rinse off stuff with the hose once a year and thats it. I am mid 50s and i hope this is my last home and i almost think the siding will outlive me. If i had to replace it for some reaon i wouldnt even consider other kinds of siding.
