The short version is that there is no reason to adjust your eating unless it makes you feel better. Some people feel better cutting out certain things, others do not. Hashi's does impact your ability to digest/process certain nutrients, so it's really important to make sure you are eating broad range of foods and track your vitamin levels etc incl iron. Does anyone follow a “hashimotos diet” and if so do you feel a difference?
My endo said that it didn’t matter but I tried keto, low carb, gluten free, etc diets. All in all I feel better with a low carb diet. Keto made my thyroid worse in the long run but low carb seems to do the trick More on reddit.com

It seems like you would find most benefit in following the paleo diet. It pretty much excludes all the things you avoid and focuses on eating meats, vegetables, fruit, healthy fats, and potatoes. No dairy, gluten, grains, legumes, sugar, soy.. it was recommended to me to follow paleo and I know it makes me feel good I’m just struggling to kick the bad stuff.

What CAN I eat?

I am a student and I need to get my nutrition in order but i am terrified of the word diet because of a past eating disorder. I need foods for all times of day that will actually be delicious and nutritious as someone with hasimotos thyroiditis. I looked at cook books online but i dont know whats actually good for me and wont leave me craving things that will be bad for my disorder. I dont know if im willing to give up gluten but has anyone tried that and had success? Being a student i dont have the funds to have a nutritionist to help with my condition either so i am just wondering if anyone has some genuinely good, filling, inexpensive recipies that are healthy for bodies with hashimotos.

Basically I have found that Mexican food is easiest/cheapest/most delicious and has little or none of the most common inflammatory foods (gluten, dairy, eggs). I eat loads of kimchi quesadillas on corn tortillas which are more delicious than you’d think. Simple chicken quesadillas with avocado are also great. I use aged sharp cheddar cheese which is supposed to be better for you than reg. cheddar. Bean and rice bowls with chicken/veg and avo. I boil whole chickens 2 at a time and shred the meat into pint jars to freeze and pull them out as needed. You can use this on simple salads as well. My fav is Caesar with homemade dressing and crushed tortilla chips instead of croutons. If you can I’d recommend starting a small veg garden as well. It is good for the soul and saves money on healthy produce. Without going into detail of every single thing I eat I’d just say embrace simplicity. Don’t eat packaged/processed foods. A bowl of plain rice and chicken with hot sauce or something will always be better for you than something gluten heavy like pasta. None of us want to give up gluten but it has for sure made a huge difference in my life. Focus on what you want to eat more of, not what you don’t want to eat. That never worked for me. Focusing on eating more vegetables has been key! Figure out what healthy things you can tolerate and just eat the crap out of them.
