What are some popular dining chair types?
How can you tell if a dining chair is good quality?
When would I use a dining chair with a slipcover?
Hello! I'm looking to furnish my dining room, and most of the dining chairs I'm looking at seem to have a 250 lb or 275 lb weight limit. I have some family/friends who are very tall and not stick thin. Think around 6'6". I have no idea how much they actually weigh, and I don't want to ask, but I'm pretty sure they're well over 250 lb. Are there any affordable, attractive options at higher limits? Or are the actual weight limits of regular chairs higher than those listed?
I was planning on going with armless chairs for the comfort of my larger friends/family, but I really don't want them to feel unsafe or uncomfortable in a too flimsy chair.
I like stuff like this, but have serious concerns over sturdiness: https://www.westelm.com/products/modern-petal-upholstered-dining-chair-h4425/

I’m on the hunt for some cute mid century modern dining chairs - but all the cute ones have a max weight capacity like 250lbs! My husband and family are plus size so i want a space they can enjoy when they come over and sit at my kitchen table.
I love those velvet dining chairs with the skinny legs but know those can’t hold up . If anyone could help that would be great! I need 4 dining chairs / preferred some type of soft material (velvet or something - I want to be super comfy at the table)
Would like to spend up to or around $1000 on 4 chairs and have a max weight capacity of 500 lbs.
I've got a lot of heavyset friends, and I usually buy (more like find) pretty cheap chairs, so I don't care if it breaks. Problem is, they don't feel the same way and end up bummed when it happens. That - and the fact that it sucks sitting in a broken chair - makes me think I should buy a couple heavy rated ones.
Any suggestions? I know it's a long shot, but I've been looking at under $100 each.
