Moving to a new apartment soon and figure I could upgrade my bed. Every YouTuber and their mom is sponsored by helix so I figured I’d give it a shot. I was in the military for a while and suffer from severe lower back pain so I wanted something pretty high quality. But $3k (after discount) for a luxury bed seems like a scam. Has anyone bought their Elite series mattress and can vouch for this, or should I look elsewhere and save my money?

If you live in the US and you’re open to saving 75% off the retail price, I recommend considering purchasing a sleep trial mattress on Facebook Marketplace. There are hundreds of reps like me nationwide who pick mattresses up from people’s homes, once they’ve slept on them long enough to determine they’re too firm or too soft for their liking, usually between a week and a month. Then we clean, sanitize, and resell them for incredible prices. We have contracts with Helix, Purple, Nectar, Dreamcloud, Avocado, Saatva, etc. I’ve had several customers with lower back pain swear by the Saatva Classic luxury firm, for what it’s worth. I had a great experience with Helix and their customer service. There are a few makers that offer a trial greater than 120 days, but they are few and far between. As a heads up I did return it because the midnight was too firm and too hot for me, but there was no evidence of any type of failure at all or degradation and I was 6'3 225 when i tried it. Almost every mattress has a complaint or three on this forum - period. Every, single one. I am sorry about your experience - and I am noting that I am a side sleeper, heavier than you, and felt that mine was too firm - mattresses are so very subjective that it is hard to decide. I'd almost suggest just reaching out to them again politely you may get lucky and get a more friendly rep who can help you navigate this. More on reddit.com

Is the Helix Plus mattress good for side sleepers?
Given its slightly firmer profile, I wouldn't classify this bed as a good option for side sleepers. Typically, side sleepers prefer sleeping on softer mattresses that provide lots of pressure relief for their shoulders and hips. While this bed might provide some of that, we don't think it's enough to move the needle for those sleeper types. If you're the type of side sleeper who prefers a firmer bed, maybe look into it, but it wouldn't be at the top of my list of recommendations.
