Craig BTW was tested with a scene from Casino Royales actual script, the train scene with Vesper (Possibly because production had moved a bit further towards actually making the film an adaptation of the novel). While Cavill does an OK job here it's not really all that different from Brosnan's performance I think they also wanted an older actor after the early stages of the film.
