When I was young, I’d go over to my grandparents and spin in their eames chair and they never once yelled at me (which is insane). That’s how I know they loved me. I’ve wanted to buy my own for the sentimental value for years. I went big with the tall, palisander, and mcl black leather. The grain is gorgeous and the chair is so comfy. I can’t even right now. I don't understand how one can possibly blanket Amazon/Temu like that because they don't actually sell anything. Sellers come and go on those platforms and some sell junk while others are selling amazing replicas as ridiculous prices. Might as well leave them out of the conversation altogether if we only want to consider options with permanent/on-going inventory. I know it’s a classic design but I was floored by the price. I mean the Aeron arguably pats for itself in ergonomics. What is the allure of the Eames tho? Is it a status symbol?

It's an affordable icon. It's one of the cheapest loungers of quality but also great value for the price -- it's not uncommon to come across 40-50 year old units still holding up. It's quite comfortable for a large segment of the population. Mid-Century modern is the gateway style for many people developing an interest in design and the 670 is arguably the most common icon of the era. Edit: the Aeron is just a tool -- a good quality, utilitarian, sombre tool. The 670 is a feeling, a souvenir, an experience: and that is worth a lot more than metric function.
