If money is not a problem, which one should you choose between them? R6 III or R4? I just sold my Sony ZX707 Japanese because of the battery (only 4 hours). I was thinking of getting a Fiio M15s, but I don't want Android 10 /11 and it gets hot as well. Astell and Kern SR35 is too small. The Hiby Pro 2 is too big... Dx180 I didn't like the know.
My decision is to pick up one of them R4 or R6 III, by now I have both in my cart waiting to decide 😂 !!!Thank you so much !
Update :
By now , I got the R4 for £170 / $220 in an offer ( half price comparing to R6, to test. I will leave it inside my backpack to use it during commute. I will buy a second dap , probably the R6 but I am afraid that it is almost the same thing as the R4. I can buy something more expensive ( budget is $1200). It will be used at home only . I have saving money for around 1 year to buy a new dap. Any recommendation?

You should try the Ibasso dx180. Replaceable battery and quad DACs. I sold my Fiio m11 plus when I got it. I do have the M300 and it’s like a toy compared to other DAPs but it’s functional. I also have a Sony zx507 which is my out and about device but I really like the Ibasso and it’s got a really good battery life. Plus you can replace it and it’s running android 13 out of the box. It’s snappy and runs like my phone. Doesn’t get hot like some HIBY R4 users have stated. But I see you updated the post so of you have the R4, not sure if it makes sense to go to Ibasso dx180.

October 4, 2024Hiby R4 vs R6 III vs DX180? Under $500-600 if possible
If price is a big factor, go for the R4. If you have the headroom, go for the DX180. I’ve had both and like the better screen, snappier UI, and advertised features that work. If DAC mode is something you’re interested in, it hardly works on the R4, but the DX180’s works perfectly fine.

Oh man, why do you want to spend 1000 bucks for a DAP to use it with your 200 buck IEMs? Just buy some dongle DAC for your phone or some cheap player like M300. If I were you, I would do this the other way around, spend 200 bucks on a DAP and 1000 bucks on IEMs, you would surely notice the difference. More on reddit.com

Hi, Hiby R6 III owner here. The other comments are very relevant to your query and you probably aren't going to see/feel an sense of an "upgrade" by jumping from the R4 to the R6 series. I love my R6 III - but it's output compared to other DAPs within it's price range is rather disappointing. The knob when turned clicks like a baseball card wedged in the mudguard of a chopper and it is the thing I dislike the most about the player, but this is subjective. If you own an R4, you already own Hiby's best player for price to performance. In my (humble, very subjective humble) opinion the next jump would be something in the $800-$1000 dollar range that will provide a 'noticeable' difference. You would also sacrifice the convenience of a more pocketable device as the R4 is spot on in this regard, and as mentioned above risk moving away from a better supported, less niche product.
