If money is not a problem, which one should you choose between them? R6 III or R4? I just sold my Sony ZX707 Japanese because of the battery (only 4 hours). I was thinking of getting a Fiio M15s, but I don't want Android 10 /11 and it gets hot as well. Astell and Kern SR35 is too small. The Hiby Pro 2 is too big... Dx180 I didn't like the know.
My decision is to pick up one of them R4 or R6 III, by now I have both in my cart waiting to decide 😂 !!!Thank you so much !
Update :
By now , I got the R4 for £170 / $220 in an offer ( half price comparing to R6, to test. I will leave it inside my backpack to use it during commute. I will buy a second dap , probably the R6 but I am afraid that it is almost the same thing as the R4. I can buy something more expensive ( budget is $1200). It will be used at home only . I have saving money for around 1 year to buy a new dap. Any recommendation?
I have a pretty straightforward question. Based on sound quality and usability, is it worth the extra money to upgrade from the R4 to the R6 III 2025? Is the sound that much better with the 4x CS43198 and usability that much better with the extra GB of RAM?
I'm just a casual listener with my phone and dongle DAC, but I think it's time for an upgrade. Should I jump to the R6 III for absolute sound quality and build, or save some money by choosing the R4 or R3? This will be my first DAP, and I don't know how much the sound will differ between each DAP. Is it worth it to spend more on the expensive R6 III, or settle with a cheaper DAP?
Edit: Ive just bought the R4 for $220 dollars since its a nice deal. Hope I will enjoy it till it last.

Little bit odd than direct competition to R4 EVA, but I lean to R6 due to better DAC, classy look and 6 color options of leather case.
The difference in sound quality compared to my iPhone 14 Pro Max is immense, even with my budget IEMs. I'm very impressed! It seems like it's time to consider investing in some high-quality IEMs :)
I'm finally upgrading from my HiBy R1, but I'm pretty torn between both the HiBy R6 III (2025), the FiiO M21, and Sony A306.
Why I'm upgrading:
Car Bluetooth is the primary issue with my HiBy R1. It doesn't work in either of my car or my partner's car.
HiByOS is a bit slow, clunky, and disorganized. I love MSEB, but doing normal things like finding a playlist is a chore.
Everything else about it is wonderful. If I didn't own a car I would be mostly satisfied.
How I plan to use a DAP:
Completely offline. I have a library of FLACs that I've collected over the years.
I don't wanna fuss with Android. I want the default player that comes with it to be a good experience and I'm not planning on making a Google Account.
80% of the time I'll be listening with IEMs. 20% of the time I'll be using Bluetooth to listen in my car.
I only own 3.5mm headphones currently, but having the option for 4.4mm doesn't hurt for future-proofing.
Other considerations:
The iPod Classic is pretty close to the perfect size for a DAP. So something "deck of cards" sized is ideal.
"Pure Music" modes that make the Android OS take a backseat are ideal. I think both HiBy and FiiO has one, but not sure which is better.
More physical buttons, the better.
Repairability and battery life is important, but not deal-breakers.
Edit: I don't need more options at this point of time, so please help me decide between these DAPs versus suggesting a new one.
Edit 2: I ended up getting a 30 GB iPod Classic from my local used electronics store.
Edit 3: Most of you didn't actually read the post. Has ChatGPT really cooked us to the point of illiteracy?
Hello, I’ve been considering buying a DAP. At first I was looking at the R6 III 2025, but they recently announced the M500. They seem similar to me, but the M500 has newer Android, better battery life, and similar 4.4 balanced output power. I have some discounts, so I can get the R6 III 2025 for the same price as the M500. Because of that, I’m wondering which one would be better as a daily work/travel DAP, and also for occasionally testing headphones at audio shows.
For reference, I have the Ori 3.0 and AM7 Opal Audio headphones, as well as some IEMs (Crinacle Meta + Rinko).
Thanks for all the help and recommendations :)
